What I also hate about TS3 is that you need to take extra care of how you place the objects because routing is much dumber than in TS2. Also, if you are into world building, TS3 is a much better, but much more complex than TS2.

Things that I find painfull to use in TS3 are friezes, which were handled better in TS2. Things that are improved from TS2 are Alt+Move or Alt+Rotate ( freeform moving and freeform rotating objects ) and CAST. TS2 is excelent too, when you learn to use some cheats ( like 45DegreeAngleOfRotation, SnapObjectsToGrid and classic MoveObjects). There really are no limitations ( except for frustrating crashes). because I can do whatever I want with it. DO YOU WANT TO BUILD THE ABSOLUTE SHIT OUT OF SOMETHING. It DOES lack a lot of the fancy bells and whistles that TS4 comes with, but it depends on what you want: Do you want to build a lot, or. I installed the Sims 3 base game (with patches) and that was honestly all I needed for lots, especially when most of the furniture is plucked from TS2. CAST alone makes it superior, but the base game furniture it broad enough to cover an incredibly wide variety of styles, and the patterns only help facilitate that. Though limited, you can still do quite a bit in TS3.

Despite these pains, it comes equipped with nice additions that no other game has, but it's still lacking where it matters. Some come in handy, but others can be a pain in the ass (automated wallpaper is the devil). TS4: Best for those who want to build, but can't be bothered to learn the tools or aren't incredibly patient (the removal of CAS, several automated & non-cheat functions, like snapping columns, automated wallpaper, corninces, the ability to move a building anywhere, etc.). TS2: Best for planning, laying out, and starting the general design of a building, due to the game's wonderful selection of furniture (except beds), and architectural pieces.
